How It Ends

So I have been thinking lately about my old relationships and dating experiences, and I have come to realize that after every break up and "let's be friends" conversation I have had with a guy...they seem to find the love of their life soon after. I have never been dumped, broken up with, or been told "I want to be just friends".
It has always been me that has started those conversations.
I swear I think I'm the girl guys date to get to the girl they are meant to love. Rascal Flatts wrote a song where they sing "God bless the broken road that led me straight to you". Well, I'm that broken road. I think it's a curse.
In terms of sports, I'm the Chicago Cubs in the game of Love.
The past 4 guys I have "dated" all are still with the girls they dated right after I said "We're better off as friends". One is even married.
I know it seems kind of dumb to say, but I'm tired of ending it. I want MY heart stomped on. I want to be dumped. told "let's just be friends". Eat my feelings in ice cream while my friends call him a dick.
Because at least then, I'll know what it would have felt like to have loved & lost.
I think I'm too tired of deciding how it ends, so I don't even look anymore.

or maybe it's because the first guy I ever dated cheated on me within the first 3 weeks of dating.

way to fuck me over, Scott.

dick.

Life & How To Survive It

This. Helps. A lot.

Check out Mr. Wang's blog here for an insightful & helpful outlook on life.

Life: in a nutshell

What you should prepare for is mess. Life’s a mess. You are not entitled to expect anything from it. Life is not fair. Everything does not balance out in the end. Life happens, and you have no control over it. Good and bad things happen to you day by day, hour by hour, moment by moment. Your degree is a poor armour against fate.

Don’t expect anything. Erase all life expectancies. Just live. Your life is over as of today. At this point in time, you have grown as tall as you will ever be, you are physically the fittest you will ever be in your entire life and you are probably looking the best that you will ever look. This is as good as it gets. It is all downhill from here. Or up. No one knows.

Resist the temptation to get a job. Instead, play. Find something you enjoy doing. Do it. Over and over again. You will become good at it for two reasons: you like it, and you do it often. Soon, that will have value in itself.

It’s not as easy as it sounds. Do you know anyone who hates you? Yet every great figure who has contributed to the human race has been hated, not just by one person, but often by a great many. That hatred is so strong it has caused those great figures to be shunned, abused, murdered and in one famous instance, nailed to a cross.

The other side of the coin is this: fall in love.

what to take away from Mr. Wang's advice is simply put below.

Don’t work. Avoid telling the truth. Be hated. Love someone.
ready. set. go.

To Me...

Love is someone seeing the beauty in you and wanting to bask in it every day all day. Love is not guaranteed. We are not owed love. That’s why when we get it, we know how lucky we are and hold on to it for dear life.

and

Love isn’t always marriage. Marriage is spending $60,000 so everyone can know that someone loves you. You know what’s certainly not love? Debt. In some cases, love can be divorce.

The quotes above are the only ones I like from that site.

Valentine

Alright, the day has come: Valentine's Day. A day where those that are single snarl and glare at others who have another hand in theirs. A day where hopeless romantics, wide eyed and lovingly, stare at a single rose in hopes that the love of their life will soon appear. A day of mass head-in-cloud, mindless, romanticism of everything in sight. A holiday I only enjoy due to the chocolate overload I bestow upon myself and the flowers on every corner during the most dreary month in Chicago. However, I absolutely adore the lovely pictures I find on one of my favorite website, coincidentally named, we heart it. Below are some images that make me smile on a day where I am reminded just how romantically challenged I am. Once a year; that's all a romantic asks for. So let us stomach the sweetness of Valentine's Day together. After all, everyone falls in love at some point. So here are some facts we all must get use to.
Valentine's Day is...
impossible to avoid

lovely when with another

a natural high

a day to ignore your brain & let your feelings show

a day where music can say more than words

a day of sweetness

a fairytale come true

a day to love

a day where little can be said, but a lot is heard

that special kiss

I hope your Valentine's Day is everything you want it to be & more.

Gatitude

A musician I love, Jason Mraz, has always been on my list of people whom I admire most (along side Audrey Hepburn and Winston Churchill). By reading his blog "Freshness Factor Five Thousand" I am able to learn a lot from him through his life experiences and beliefs. I take a lot of his advice about living a better, greener, and healthier lifestyle. He always seems so happy and content with his life and that is exactly what I am looking for. Those of you looking for guidance on how to be happier, healthier, or greener, I would definitely suggest checking him out. His writing style is fabulous and he's charmingly funny. Oh, and his music is pretty good too ;)
Below is a picture that I like to look at sometimes when I think everything in my life is going wrong. I found it on Jason's blog and it has truly opened my eyes to the world beyond my window and shows how bless I am. Save it to your computer and look at it when you have those off days...it lowers me off my little dark cloud right away and makes me think of everything I am grateful for.
Gratitude: Let's try it, shall we?
